Hello!

Playing the latest 1.1.21

0. Fire segment
1. select stug
2. select gun on the panel
3. right click on the hex in front of the AFV
4. in the gun type menu select MA
5. in the ammo selection menu select Smoke
6. nothing happens

I have tried firing from the second stug, the same results

It is working as it should. When Ordnance fire Smoke they can only fire into a hex containing a target, i.e. an Enemy Unit.

Thank you Paullus!

Now I see it in the manual: "With UPDATE5, the player as well as the AI selected Ordnance and AFVs will now have the capability to fire Smoke/WP rounds at enemy units in Player vs AI scenario."

Now I'm trying to figure out what is the use of Smoke in this game?

- you cannot place smoke in the terrain so your units could move to that hex and have protection
- you cannot place smoke on friendly units to protect them
- you can place smoke on enemy units. But then smoke will protect enemy units? Or smoke has some other properties?

Yes you are correct. There is a downside to units in smoke hexes. They have a sighting issue that worsen their sighting and fire capability somewhat so laying smoke on an Enemy Unit makes their sight worse and their fire less effective.
