I am playing the base game before purchasing a DLC. The DLC that interests me is Allies Victorious as it appears that the included scenarios can be played multiplayer.

I have attached a screenshot and if you look at the 3 coastal hexes north of Bayeux they still appear to Axis controlled even though I have moved an Allied unit in and through all three hexes.

I even moved a naval unit in to the port. Is there something about control that I am not aware of?

The flag is not on the port so it cannot be captured by a boat. US ground unit must not be able to capture flags as reconnaissance units (US Rangers ?).

It is definitely the unit. An infantry or armor would do the trick, but recon units won't capture territory.
