Hello everyone, I wanna to konw how to set suitable altitude for GA and Superiority mission. Espacially, soviet air planes has low perfomace in 1941.
For example, I plan 5 BAP equipted SB-2 to excute GA misson and set altitude in 10000ft. Totally 50 aircraft loss by falk and operational. So, what altitude can get a blance efficiecy and losses.

I'm no expert on air superiority missions. One thing you can take for what it's worth is that the MiG-3 is a high altitude aircraft, so if they are going to be assigned as escorts to your SB-2s, then you might consider putting the GA altitude in excess of 20k feet. At low altitude, the MiG-3 loses a lot of it's max speed value and is a sub-par performer when compared to Yak-1.

With a Yak-1 or LaGG-3 escort, altitudes under 10k are possible. Soviet level bombers do not have to fly at high altitudes to be effective. In fact many of them were used on occasion at low levels, which sometimes provided success due to the surprise, or suffered significantly due to low level AA fires where the Germans knew they were approaching. An altitude of 9k will prevent you from taking fire from high-level flak located in adjacent hexes, although you are then closer to the low-level stuff. Still, it seems to be a reasonable trade off.

To reduce operational lossess ensure that your air groups are located as close to the target as possible.

If you look in the editor you can see the altitude at which an aircraft flys at maximum speed. for an SB-2 that alt is 13454 ft, the assumption being the quicker the aircraft is going the harder it is to hit. so for SB 2 I would set the alt in the range 10k-13k.

Thanks your advice.
I do test for Su-2 to excute GA mission, without German AS , the most efficiecy occured at 7000-8000ft. I compared AA waepon data and found out mostly enemy AA if target don't have heavy anti air gun, eff ceiling is 6500ft (20mm canno)
But escort plane can not defense at so low altitude to agains German AS plane. So, could I exute GA without escort and attach an AS mission to cover GA area.
