Modding ship design request...

Post by Jorgen_CAB »

Not sure where to post this... but one annoying thing when modding is that I can't set the ships default engagement stance and retreat settings or whether the ship should invade or not like you can when you design a ship.

The templates for ship designs don't allow to set these values for some reason and I don't understand why, this would also make the AI fight allot better if I design different ships to act differently rather than be forced to set these values on a fleet basis rather than ship basis.

I might also want the ship design template to include some condition for the template to be applied and a priority number if two template for the same hull applies. Conditions could be one or more research projects, that would suffice. This way I cold make different design templates for the same hull that change over the cause of the game.

If these two things are added then modder could make the AI designs way more efficient rather than using the auto design feature and truly make AI fleets interesting and more flavourful.

Oh... in the modding section there is a thread on the Roadmap for modding which include a file that explains all the xml files you can mod... please onclude the Race Policies and Shipdesign templates there as these files have no description of how the different values work or can be changed like the rest of the files.
