Possible extended movement bug

When I click to use extended movement for a unit the area it can move to is significantly _reduced_. That doesn't seem right. I have before and after pics plus a save game if anyone wants it.

is this only occurring with extended wheeled movement?

Yes Chris is right.
For wheeled vehicles, in areas off roads, "extended movement" is less than normal movement (which is logical).

think there's more to it than that, and it involves wheeled movement in enemy territory. Will need to confirm first.

Yes, I'm seeing it with wheeled extended movement vs leg regular movement. However it does not make sense to me that clear hexes just to the front of my unit are no longer reachable while additional clear hexes far to the rear are now reachable. I tried doing the math based on the differences bewteen leg and wheeled but it does not add up to me, even when considering penalties.
Anyway, I have a file and pics if you have nothing better to do.

Dont know if its a bug actually.. INF units that use Leg as their normal movement may be able to move into Forest or heavy forest for example, but when you press extended movement, if the extended movement is via Wheeled transport, then the unit may NOT be able to move into forest of heavy forest anymore, because its harder for wheeled transport to move in those types of terrain.. if you know what I mean.
The same thing can be applied to moving closer to the front line.. the closer you get an the enemy the harder it is to move.. an example of this is that some ART can only move via wheeled extended movement. Put them in the front line, in contact with the other side and guess what.. your ART is trapped! The extended wheel movement isnt that effective when its in contact with the enemy..
I think thats the answer..

I looked at the pics again and the unit in question is right at the front. At least the front line is still very close to it even though other units have advanced further in my current turn. I'll try pushing the front line marker back with another unit an then see if my extended wheeled unit can advance. Thanks for the help.

okay, I've worked it out and it's a design decision.
Wheeled units using extended movement (ie pedal to the metal) are barred from entering enemy terrain, including a one hex buffer into friendly territory.
If your infantry need to move into enemy held terrain, they need to do it on foot. Makes perfect sense to me.
Cheers Chris

Thanks for the follow up Chris and Rob. Works for me now that I understand the logic. Your support is appreciated.
