How do I designate or create a "Training Group"?

You do that in the editor and not during the game.

How do I recognize a training group in game, that was created for my scenario?

Training groups are not in WitP-AE.

Use permanently restricted air groups, works well for both sides.

If you can hold out as Japan until mid-1945 you get a few training and flight school groups via the reinforcement queue. It will say training group near the ac model name. All offensive missions for them are either missing or grayed out. They also feature in the late war short scenarios for Japan like Downfall.

Otherwise, you have to go with quiet rear-area air groups for training.

They are not training groups, just groups with training in their name. These historic Japanese training units were pressed into service at the end with many being used as kamikazi units.

As was said eariler, traning groups do not exist anymore? They did, or was it WitP? There was a large debate/complaints over they use but can't what, why, why etc.

My understanding is they can be marked as training groups in the editor which means that it will be a new scenario and not one that comes with the game.

I tried that before posting. It does not work or it didn't for me. Ticking the training box should prevent it form carrying any missions other than training and allow double the number of ac. It did neither of those two thing.
It should not increase the number of aircraft, it should increase the number of pilots able to be assigned.

You are perfectly correct and I knew that (or did). Irrespective, what I said is wrong and further it does work. When I set the test up I saved it to the wrong folder, hence loading the wrong test.

What you get if you tick the 'Trainer' box in the editor is an air unit that can only fly training missions but can have upto three times the number of pilots dependant upon the max number of ac it is authorised.
