Rangers Damage Evasion

G'day everyone,
In the campaigns where they appear, ranger units have a 25% chance to evade attacks, suffering no damage as a result.
I've been looking at this mechanic a bit lately, and it does come up as a discussion point for the other games from time to time, so I was wondering if this is something you would like to see adjusted in ACW?
Evasion has been part of SC (I think) longer than I've been playing it, so I won't be dropping it unless there's a desire for me to do so. At the same time, I did already cut it for transports as inflicting no damage against a valuable target with 0:8 odds offered can be frustrating, and I think there's an argument that this holds true for rangers too.
Curious to hear your thoughts,

It's a bit off-topic but I've often thought that the Indian units would be good candidates for getting an evasion rating. They preferred guerilla warfare, hit and run tactics and fighting from cover. Not lining up in the open like tenpins in Napoleonic style and blasting away at the opposing line.

I agree with Platoonist and give the Indian units a higher evasion.
I personally like the high evasion of Rangers too, even though in my 1846 match on YT those Texacans could get out of my fandangos lickety split :D
I hope you do NOT change those.....

Interesting and looking forward to a new patch. So you are looking at removing it or adjusting it for rangers? Yeah I've never understood the transport evasion thing as transports are the last thing to evade.

I'm coming at this mostly from the perspective of something new that I'm working on, and if and/or where the evasion mechanic should fit into that.
Personally I'm not a fan of evasion, and have had my doubts about even giving it to rangers since the beginning (they mostly got it as a point of differentiating them from other weak units), so I figured, if the mechanic is unpopular then it not only makes sense to leave it out of the new project, but also to drop it from ACW. But this thread is suggesting to me that I might be the minority viewpoint on this one - which is good to know :D Means I don't have to change anything.

Thanks for the feedback everyone!

Yeah, thanks for leaving Rangers as they are. There's only a few of them and exciting game play comes with them. :D

Right I see now. In that case I would agree that it would make just as much sense for the Indian units to have the ability as well...

Agree. I like the Rangers as they are.

There are only a couple of them and makes them somewhat unique and interesting.
