Does the A.I. get any extra sorties over the normal max amount on carriers on hard difficulty?
Does it get any extra fuel for its Carrier TF's on hard level?

It's been a couple of years since I played {just starting again}. So this is from memory.
Hard gets a bonus to supply. I do not know if the carriers get more sorties before being out of supplies. I think that if this was the case, someone would've figured it out and it would have been posted. I do not recall Alfred ever mentioning it.
Hard has no combat bonus {cheat}. Very Hard does. I do not know if the computer gets more fuel or range.

The AI does not get extra sorties. However, the AI never uses sorties so the sorties never run out, it never runs out of torpedoes either!

Ok, so the A.I. gets unlimited sorties! Wow that explains it. I have been waiting a long time for a Jap A.I. Carrier TF to run out of sorties then attack it with my surface task forces, but the Jap carriers never ran out of sorties! This ruins the realism playing on hard level! I wish this was reserved for very hard level only!

This is a big combat bonus for the A.I. on the hard level and extremely unrealistic!!!
I was led to believe the hard level only gave the A.I. a little logistical help only!

But the sorties are logistics!

So historical level is the only level that is realistic?
I am switching my game to historical, I cant have Jap A.I. carrier groups parking themselves in my front yard and bombing everything in the area for weeks without needing to withdraw!

Does the A.I. get unlimited torpedoes on the historical difficulty level?

I already answered that, no matter the difficulty.

You did not specify what level or if all difficulty levels they got unlimited torpedoes.
Does the A.I. get unlimited carrier sorties on historical difficulty level too?

I think that I will quit answering your questions . . .

It's been stated that the AI gets free planes too. You can bomb the Kawasaki and Mitsubushi factories flat and they'll still get them. That's how you can end up with over 4,000 downed GM4 Bettys in the course of a game when the Japanese only built a quarter of that number historically.

OTOH, you CAN kill their pilots (especially Japanese), so soon you can fight against mediocre pilots. AI never runs out of planes.

It all works out. I "won" on DEC 16 44 on Historical. I am starting one now on Hard. I'll know in four or five years if it takes any longer on Hard.

Does the A.I. get unlimited fuel on all levels?
Does the A.I. suffer from fatigue effects?

1. I don't think so.
2. Yes
One thing is, AI does get straight 100 preparation points for target bases.

OK, how does this supply bonus interact with VPs? For example, a buffed Japanese AI holds high VP bases fully supplied, plus it actually develops ports and airfields to get even more VPs from base development . Doesn't that derail VP ratios in games against AI? If you play vs normal AI and switch sides, you will see AI develops almost all bases. At least this is what I see in China when I switch to Japanese AI side .

I don't think supply bonus affects VP, after all, they are bit unrelated.
What supply bonus does is that it is more difficult to starve defenders totally. It still works, but is slower.
It does not make bases fully supplied.

AI carriers do not run out of sorties nor torpedoes. I do not know if the AI TFs can actually run out of fuel, mine TFs can as the submarines before they return to port when the computer decides that they should refuel. I guess that the submarines then have to use the sheets as sails.

I think someone posted that the AI must use the appropriate amount of Supply + HI + Manpower points to make aircraft "automatically", so that would mean there is a finite amount that it can do. Similarly, HI points probably consume fuel and fuel is not teleported to Japan, so that could run out too if you sink enough tankers.
So the HI can move around some things as a way of compensating for not being able to respond to enemy movements, but the strategy for the Allied side is still to cut Japan off from oil and resources so that it cannot produce weapons nor feed its troops.
