This is what just happened to me. I have created a challenge in PBEM for "A World Divided" scenario. We have played few turns with my opponent that has reported a problem with subs quite early. Then, land units disappearing.

It turns out that my opponent accept the scenario without having the Deluxe mod install.

Is there a way to prevent this from occurring?

I doubt it. There are 2 main stock scenarios called Total War and GG that are commonly used by people playing the stock game. If anyone sees "A World Divided" in the Challege list that would be specific to Deluxe AWD. I guess it's just one of those live and learn situations. I would not sweat it.

Yes shame, I thought I was winning. Another challenge was accepted. I hope it won't be the same.

Isn't it easy enough to rename the Deluxe campaigns so that the term 'Deluxe Mod' or so appears on the name of the campaign?

Good idea, something like:

Deluxe Mod: A World Divided
Deluxe Mod: Arsenal of Democracy
Deluxe Mod: Axis Blitz
