We regret to inform you that the game's release, originally scheduled for today, has been delayed. The build did not pass all the approval steps required by Steam. The new release date is set for July 18th.

During the TeaTime this Thursday, we'll explain what happened.

So why not release on Matrix store now???

Yeah that's what I don't get. If it's a kerfluffle with Steam why isn't it still available on Matrix. Perhaps secondary issues of planning for a steam release causes interference problems. Second question... I received a discount code as a beta tester that seems to have a one month time limit. Moving release to July 18 makes the window a bit narrow. How will that be handled? (Less important, but curious minds will wonder.)

I have a loyalty voucher I was going to use to purchase this game. This will now sadly have
expired by the new release date.
Will I still be able to use it on a postponed release date game?

Please after tea time, make a simple forum post, because not everyone watch tea time and here it sounds like we are obliged to watch team time to have the explanation... Thanks

Well some of us Pacific War Beta Testers got a redemption coupon with a thirty (30) day window before expiration.
They got sent out and received on June 19. So release is July 18?
Man that's shaving things awful close, especially for folks way out west from 0 UTC.

I haven't watched teatime when it was broadcasted plan to do it now, but seriously was it an issue over historical flags when there will be mods to replace units or flags or whatever you want to your taste. We should act more like grown ups... And I'm aware that Germany has strict laws about this but I still can't understand, please don't misunderstand me I'm not making a stand for one side or another.

It’s nothing to do with Germany, and I believe those laws no longer exist there anyway. But I’m surprised steam had issue with the flags, as I’ve seen the nationalist (now also symbol of the republic of China) flags in many other games and mods. But presumably it’s a new thing, or error on their part.

It kinda sucks cause the flag looks so wrong without the sun amongst the blue.

The Nationalist Chinese historical flag needed to be changed by taking out the sun symbol? Only one who's sensitive is the political organs of a totalitarian entity like the PRC. Historical revisionism at its worst...........
Surprised the Tibetan Flag stays, or then, maybe PRC hasn't noticed that yet.......

If you drop a line to support@slitherine.co.uk I am sure we'll be able to help you with a loyalty voucher that would have been valid for the original release date, but not for the new one.

The game isn't being released on Matrix before Steam, because we always launch our games on both stores at the same time. Internally it makes sense, and avoids the situation where we say the game "is out now!" on our socials and then people go to Steam/Matrix to get it and it's not there.

Well exactly my point. But it’s odd as I’ve not seen such censorship before. I’ve been to China and the flag is hardly censored when shown in historical contexts like on tv, or in museums. So it does seem odd. But the CCP are rather random with their censorship and it does ebb and flow.

Still hopefully when the game releases someone can quickly mod back in the sun.

Yesterday I watched Tea Time about this game. What a total bs concerning the reason for the delay. Only 2 flag symbols seems the 'problem'. So what? Steam, show some backbone! After release on july 18 some clever people will change those symbols to the historical flag, for sure. Why getting upset about those flags? It's just a game.

There will be a historical flag mod for Pacific.
Not only for accuracy and immersion, but also to make a point I guess.

Also, this censorship deal concerning Steam and the banning of a flag in a historical war-game illuminates a wider and more concerning problem: The incestuous relationship between Western corporations (protected by Western military and security organs) and the People's Republic of China. Movies got to be edited before going to market on the mainland. Free exchange of ideas can't get across the Great Fire Wall easily. Peoples social media is watched. Totalitarianism Deluxe!
And Western corporations bend over backwards to sooth the PRC, all because of the bottom line.

Dang it! I was going to use my anniversary coupon on this. But I found out it was delayed, which is not a big deal other than the fact that my coupon will expire before I can use it. Is there anyway I can get my anniversary coupon extended? Can't hurt to ask. (Been a loyal customer since the year 2000)
