Unique pictures of Dutch Sub KXVII

All,

My friend's father served in the sub-KXVII and was transferred off it just a few days before it was lost with all hands to a mine in Straights of Malacca Dec 41. He then transferred to CL De Ruyter - just in time to be sunk at Java sea by CA Haguro. He survived that and the whole war in the end. He thought he might like to share these pictures.

The sad thing is how many ships have been illegally raised and scrapped - this sub and the CL both vanished in recent years - terrible.

Pictures show the rear tubes and Engines - he was in engineering.

Those inside pictures are interesting and show how dangerous it is for the untrained.

The only thing lower than a Marine is a submarine!

Very cool - thank you for sharing.

Those subs must have been incredibly cramped.
