If you navigate to the following folder and delete the SC3.ini file, it should get you up and running again.
\Users\<username>\Documents\My Games\Strategic Command WWI
A heads up though, that check is for a previous version of WWI and not with the latest patch, is it possible that you reinstalled an older version of the game and not the latest?
Just asking as the latest no longer uses that line in the INI file.

Thanks a lot for the prompt, kind and wise reply.
've installed the latest patch 1.14.
Now the game starts. I've tried with an "Empires in turmoil" scenario 1916. Lion of africa.
But... just afetr 2 game turns it crashes, showing:
[FAILED (draw_operational_management_panel_to_buffer): Segmentaion violation.[
Can you help with this issue too?
Thanks
GL

Are you running any graphical mods? e.g. if you go to SETTINGS->MODS, are there any there that you've turned on? Or installed and turned on?
Just asking as sometimes there is an outdated graphical mod and if this is the case it would be good to know so we can recommend or look into a fix.

Thanks again!
After your suggestion i looked at the list of mods installed , and actually it was long, but no one was activated yet.
I activated the Blue Max already installed and the game flows smoohly now, in any case beyond the game turns where originally crashed..
Fingers crossed, but the hint to look at the mods seems quite appropriate!

Great to hear and that particular mod, Blue Max, is quite nice
