I am addicted to these, learning a whole level of history and from another perspective. How they recruited, organized, and deployed units abroad and close to home is fascinating. The depth of their experience from WWI is something the Americans did not have. I found their loathing toward MacArthur a new perspective, perhaps well founded. It all gives a new appreciation WitP.
I have a new PC and haven't done a clean install of WitP AE in about a decade... Any tips? Is there a cheat sheet somewhere? Do you need to load another map or tools to maximize the experience?

There is a new patch coming out in the next few weeks I am told. I don't know what will be changes, but I suppose it will be an important improvement. There a few different maps out there now. I don't know which ones will be supported by the new patch.

They will come with the patch, that may be one of the reasons why it is taking so long. Besides working on other projects as well. The thing is, you should be able to move the .exe file with no problems . . .

Changing the LOOK of the map is no problem. You simply replace the art files with the new ones (best to move the old ones somewhere rather than deleting them. It is the underlying map data that causes issues when users do not know which map they are matching. There are four sets of data out there:
1. The stock map with no changes- stacking limits on selected islands and atolls
2. The stock map with stacking limits on all the land hexes
3. The extended map (extra bases added, no direct path between Aden and Abadan) with stock map stacking limits
4. The extended map with stacking limits on all land hexes.
Be sure you match the artwork to the map data files and all will be good - independent of the .exe version being used.
