I won, uh, barely.

The Savanah Campaign. The first mission. Ugh, I'm beginning to hate that one.

Ya see, I keep playing through the campaign, and I get so far, and forget to back up my squad, and I get beat down, and have to restart with a new squad.

And, as I said, I really dread that first mission. Combination of terrain and jocks with low skills.

My latest restart featured no less than 5 engine explosions 4 of them in a row. My leader, in a Swift Death, got down and dirty in the water vs a Banzai. She succeeded in ripping its engine out, leading to the first explosion. since it was immersed, the resulting damage wasn't too bad, and she pulled herself upright and out of the water to help my poor Pack Hunter take down a Pike in the next hex over. (Ya see, the Pack Hunter had just taken out a Shadow before engaging the Pike, and was more or less banged up), while my Fireball moved over from helping the Pack Hunter to helping my Guru take out the last enemy Titan, another Shadow. The Guru was in terrible shape, the meson guns had critted many a system. However, a lucky Tesla removed the Shadow's right leg, down it went. The Fireball arrived just in time to put Napalm Missles through the engine. For a second, I sighed with relief, battle over, as the Pike was almost demolished from Power Axe hits. Then I get the dreaded message: Titan Destroyed, Engine Explodes!

Fireball has no armor, Guru isn't much better, and they are in the same hex. Pack Hunter is barely on its feet, and it too has little armor. My Swift Death is the only one with any armor at all, and her leg is red.

Boom, up goes the Shadow. Several damage reports flash by. The upshot is that the Fireball, well, goes up in a fireball. The spillover damage into the next hex was enough to send first the Pike, and then the remaining Shadow (who was apparantly not dead like I thought, just unconcious) into crater land.

4 enemy Titans, their entire force, blown to bits. And one of mine. Of course no salvage. I have one jock vaporized, along with his Titan. The Guru and the Pack Hunter have five locations destroyed, meaning 17 and 18 components destroyed, respectively. About 10 components each are light damaged or worse. The Swift Death comes out, relatively unscathed, with only armor components destroyed (about 5 of them), and light and medium damage to a couple of others.

And so, now I have a decision. While I, technically, won that battle, I am facing a massive repair bill. On top of that i need a new mechanic, and a new Titan. Since I have just shy of 200k in money, I may be able to pull this off. But, do I want to? This means I'm going to be low in money for a while, and I'll have a jock who will need some training time to bring him up to par.

OTOH, I did get a lot of experience out of this, and if I start over again, I'll just have to fight this map over again.

Decisions, decisions.

After all of my jocks (3) got green rank, i tried the first mission of the savannah campaign. 3( 2 light titans, 1 medium) vs 5( 1 recon, 4 light). My squad was equipped with gauss cannons, plasma guns, GMHs and so on. Perfect for long range combat. I climbed a mountain and opened fire. I would have won the battle, but then i saw that the enemy had a Wraith M1 ( My self-designed Light - LR - support -Titan). The Titan is equipped with a gauss cannon, GMHs and an MG. Very powerful combination. When the battle was over, all titans, except the enemy Wraith M1 were destroyed..... ****!
Maybe i should delete it..... its a terribly powerful weapon.....

Please send me a save game if possible as it is most unlikey that the AI will have such a weight advantage (240t:180t). All games I did test the map I get a 1:1 ratio.

I dont know if i am right with the AI titan classes, but i think the weight of my team was 70+70+100= 240, and the AI's weight was 40+70+70+70+70 = 320. I dont think thats unfair.

But what if my jocks are heroes? Do the students also become heroes? Or do they get a weight advantage? Or neither the 1., nor the 2.?

No question of fairness. Its a question wether there is a bug lingering as the map should have balanced the AI squad to match
your weight. It does for me each time I test. Other experiences ?

Its map dependant but I won't tell as it will take away the fun.

Okay, i've loaded the game. I where wrong about the enemy titans. The enemy had 2 recon, and 3 light titans. It wasn't easy, but with the right tactic (and luck) i managed to win the mission.

The only strange thing: Why does a gauss gun hit more often with 60% chance than with 80 - 99%?

The same with the chainsaw.

1 Question: Can it be, that a gun has 99% chance, but never hits?
Or is it fixed that a gun hits after a certain tries?

Its just luck. The random function is well tested and there are no weapon cheats.

I checked the map. You could not face 1 recon in the enemy team. The map requires at least 2 of the enemy to be recons.

I said, that i made a mistake. The enemy had 2 recon and 3 light titans. Forget about it.

Yep, you did. Sorry about that. Am forgetting. . . . there its deleted from memory.

Is the Wraith M1 available somewhere as an export file?

In the Titan Arena. But it has some .... erm.... problems...
The M2 is already out, but it has a REAL problem with the power support. The Engine1 doesnt generate enough PUs for the Gauss gun, movement, the scanner and the ECM. Forget about the M1 and M2. The Wraith M4 (Wraith M3 was never released) will be downloadable when i tested it long enough. It has a stronger engine, but unfortunately, i had to replace the heatreg3 with a heatreg2. This means that the titan now has enough power, but you will have to wait longer between shots to keep the heat down. But that's in any case better than running low on PUs.
