Can someone tell me why there is a Blue Flag at 36,48

That usually signifies a National Morale location. The blue flag would be that the Allies gain some benefit by capturing it. If it was red = Japan. Or if both flags appear, it means that either side benefit from its capture.

I thought that was the case as well but it is not.
Blue Stars mark hexes with on going per turn NM bonus/penalties (regardless of Axis or Allied).
Red Stars mark hexes that are Victory Objectives.
However, THIS Blue Star is not mentioned in the list of locations for Blue Stars and I don't see any resource on the hex 36,48. Wondering if this is a mistake or some special one off type of thing

If you hover your curser over it, do you see text appear?

It must be. I'll run this by Bill.
The blue flag tells the player there is a specific task/event that can occur.
This one is that the Allied player needs to keep a Tank, Army or Corps within 5 hexes (I think) of the blue flag in order to benefit from additional Chinese MPPs.

This Blue Flag is legit and is covered in the Strategy Guide about China and its Warlords:
The Warlord Liu Wenhui controls the province of Xikang and his contribution to the war effort is
virtually nil. In order to mobilize the resources of this region, which contains the cities of Kangding
and Yushu, it is imperative that KMT authority be asserted there. Doing so requires keeping a
Chinese Corps, Army, or Tank within 2 hexes of hex 36,48.

Right! So the pervious screenshot was as the Axis player. Just a Blue Star hanging out in the wilderness. But as the Allied player you get the red hatch and text pop-up in addition to the Blue Star.

Oh, so as Japan, the blue flag doesn't have a tool-tip popup telling that Xikang is a Warlord area? I guess that could confuse an Axis player of what exactly it means and if they missed it during reading the Strategy Guide.

Ah I see. I MP beta tested mostly as Allies, but when playing Japan, I never was looking at the Xikang area as I had my hands full elsewhere
