What's in a name?

I designed this ship, starting with an auto-designed BB, then making it slightly heavier, changing the guns from 12" to 14", and adding armor. When I finished my design, the game said it had identified the ship as a B instead. Okay.

But when I accepted the redefinition of ship type, it suddenly got almost 250 tons heavier? That letter must weigh a whole lot!

This is another example of the silly mechanic about limiting what types of ships can be called what, but even worse in this case because the new ship type actually changes the ship design. Which is why I put it in the tech support section, because I have to assume this isn't WAD.

I think it's something to do with the hull form in game being different between BBs and Bs. Though you are correct that there appears to be no reason for it.

The reason for it only being rated as a B, though, is the fact it only mounts 2 twin turrets 3+ are required for a BB.

I figured out that it needed a third turret to be a BB (or to be faster to be a BC). But why it got heavier when it was redefined as a B I don't understand. If I strip off some armor and put on another turret, does the hull suddenly get lighter?

Thanks for the report. We'll investigate.
