When using historical values for Commision Date - Laid Down Date, the ship construction time is way off nearly across the board.

Battleships - 15 months?

Starting with BBs having only a construction time of 15 months, I could not find one example of that ever occuring in WW2.
(data to be posted on subsequent reply) (the general consensus was that it took, on average 24-36 months in the best circumstances during WW II)

Sub - 6 months? Even for Germany, the historical data almost always indicated 1 year.

Destroyers - 6 months?

The US Fletcher destoyer class averaged 1 year.

The pace of US destroyer construction accelerated with the wartime Fletcher class. Laid down beginning in 1941, all 175 Fletchers were completed between June 1942 and February 1945, launched an average of 212 days after keel laying and commissioned after an average of 152 days more or 364 days total

The US Benson and Gleaves destroyer classes averaged 1.5 years.

The Bensons and Gleaves arrived in two batches. Construction of the first 24, funded in fiscal years 1938–40, commenced before the United States foresaw being drawn into World War II. They were launched after an average of 364 days and joined the fleet by July 1941 after an average of 191 days more for a total of 556 days.

Escort Carriers (CVE) - 6 months? Was more like 1 year.

Fleet Carrer (CV) - 18 months? (maybe for the USN...)

USN Hornet - 2 years
USN Essex - 20 months (close)
USN Yorktown - 15 months
USN Intrepid - 20 months
USN Hornet(CV-12) - 15 months
USN Franklin - 13 months
USN Ticonderoga - 15 months

The UK Light Cruisers listed here appear to have taken an avg of 2 years or more.

(i tried to reference only construction data that initiated BB construction after 1939, but was hard to find for the UK, as they did not really start any new big-ship construction during WWII)

Correct. We used to have them at more realistic lengths, but it just ended up with no one ever buying any ships.
