Ok, so Oz is slang for Australia. Got it. I meet an Aussie who went by the name of Splatter. (The sound he says he made when he played Australian Rules football) He gave me a vegemite sandwich; well I will just say it must be an acquired taste. But how do you get Oz from Australia?

Micah, g'day again.
I think Oz comes from 1 of 2 places, the bastardization of the pronunciation of Australia (Ostralia) or from and sixties satirical cartoon called Bazza Mckenzie created by a guy you may of heard of, Barry Humphries of Dame Edna Everidge Fame. Perhaps Raverdave other dudes from downunder may be able help out
Ron
PS vegemite is an aquired taste, best on really fresh bread and just scraping of the stuff, to much will put u off it for life:)

goodwood,
Thank you for the info. I honestly do not remember how much vegemite he put on but I do remember thinking, ok I don't want to insult this guy by telling how bad it tastes I just do not ever want to eat this stuff again. But hay to each his own. People in this country eat crawfish brains so go figure.

Oz is just a short hand way of saying Aussie, which in turn is a short way of saying Australia..........we tend to butcher the english language ;)

Oh and the best way to eat vegimite is on toast with the butter melting.

Do you want to know what vegimite is made out of? Well when you brew beer in those huge vats, all the crud that is left over at the bottom of the vat after you drain the beer is sent off to the vegimite factory ! I kid you not !
