For Day of Infamy campaign, the in-game research screen for all Countries shows a max level of 5 for Anti-Submarine Warfare.
However, in the Upgrades section of the editor, when looking at Escort Carrier upgrades, the max level shows 3.

I am assuming that the Escort Carrier is the game's primary Anti-Sub platform.

Bug, or am I missing something?

There are a number of research areas where the actual upgrades available to units vary from the potential maximum that it can be researched to, and this is one of them. AA is another.

ASW research does enhance the abilities of certain units to attack, or defend themselves from subs. Additionally, it protects the convoys themselves, in a way that does not need micromanaging, as by attaining higher levels, enemy raiders will sink less, all other things being equal.

Consequently researching ASW up to level 5 can be beneficial even if no units at all are upgraded with it.

I did not know that re ASW and convoy lanes. Is this just for the Pacific game or is this across on SC3 titles?
