Yet another crazy retreat.

Gone NE away from their supply source. No road, and terrain the same. If I'd been the Allies I be chuffed if it had gone there, it cuts off direct supply to the Japanese units on the road to the NW. Basically it breaks alll known retreat rules in every game I've ever played but this.
This is and has been my biggest moan about WitP AE.

Does the game use AndyMac updated scenarios? He introduced supply caps in all bases in China. Supply caps seems to override supply tracing for purpose of retreat. I have had units in Malaya retreat to bases with almost no supplies because those bases had higher supply caps than supply-laden bases. Pretty confusing.

No it's stock scenario one.
The only possible destination for that unit in that diection is Yenen, through jungle, rough, across three rivers not to menntion enemy units. Safety lies SW or NW not %$£$% NE.

they can't retreat NW as the hexside is in Japanese control... I think it calculated supply movement cost to nearest base and retreated NE, which is WAD
it also does NOT cut supply to Japanese units on the road up NW... supply will flow around it, not along the road

it is Sian actually, it can trace direct path not through Japanese

Yes sorry I meant W and SW.
You are correct I should have said heavily reduced.
Same distance to Ichang which is SW.
