I like maps with volcano hexes. I think they look cool and I find volcano energy an entertaining use of my excess water on Gaia maps.

Is there a way to maximize them appearing? Other than choosing Cerbeus planets?

I think the key thing to look for if you want volcanoes is the planets age. The younger the planet the more geologically active it should be and consequently the more volcanoes it should have. I'm not sure what the age cut off is, but I'd guess anything less than 2 billion years is likely to have volcanoes. 4 billion years old or more and there probably aren't any volcanoes.

I, too, am pro-volcano.
Purely for the coolness.
