Tutorial freeze-up

I've tried the tutorial three times and each time after destroying the building, when I go to the move menu, i get a skill check, after which most of the left side of the move menu disappears (I'm at work so I can't describe it exactly). This happens whether I try an automove or manual move.

Please save the game just before you press the button which will freeze it. Tell me what button is the one to trigger the freeze and send me the savegame. Its in data/saves.

This thread should be under bug reports.

It looks like I have some other issues with WinXP, so will be trying a format and fresh install to clear out some of the cobwebs. I'll see what happens then.

Note: .txt appended as the forum said the .sol was an illegal attachment.

I tested and found no problem. I could load the savegame. Then I called move and made a run. No hang. Can others please try. The game is supposed to hang after you select a move/automove.

Perhaps "freeze" isn't the best word

After destroying the repair bay, I try to run (and to automove) to hex 11,11 but nothing happens. Sometimes I get a skill check, which I clear with a right click, and sometimes not. When I select the move, the time for the action shows at the bottom, but it never happens.

I get the feeling I should be hitting "end turn" or something, but I gather that the game increments each turn as each command is given?

My only guess is that you're not selecting "wait on move" or "wait on call" from your attack menu after you issue the move command. When you select a movement command such as run, the menu changes to the attack menu. You must have commands issued in both modes before the clock will advance.

Sounds like you're selecting run, which changes you into attack mode, and then you're hitting "call move" from there, which would be the cause of the skill check (breaking a run move that you've already issued causes a skill check). Select "wait on call" from the second menu instead.

Sorry if this is obviously not the problem, but I tried the save on a Win98 and a WinXP machine, and everything seems to work fine on my end.

Yes, it seems that he missed the turn system. I pointed him to Margas nice helptext.
