Operation Lotus tips

Hi there,
any tips for the Tulip 2, convoy mission? I always seem to miss a 1-2 turns to capture the last point.
1/ Vietkong engineers sitting on the road seem super tough (around turn 20); had to encircle them with multiple (4-5 + 2 APV + mortar) units to force them to retreat, but it took quite some turns. They have assault value of 16, that I've never seen before in other troops.
2/ Should I disembark all my units and had multiple platoons sweeping way ahead of the convoy?
3/ Why does the scenario mentiones specific use of engineer platoons?
Edit: I checked other units in scenario editor and did not found any other unit with assault level of 16? Are they like superhuman?
Thanks for the help!

Hello kodab89, sorry , had missed this post.
This is a fun and tough scenario, I did the CSEE code for this based on scenario designer David Galster's battle plans. There's 30 turns to achieve things, it pays to move in systematic way, to have enough fire power to open the road as required, but then to have recon assets around to push through when considered safe. Friendly engineers are required in removing VM blocks and minefields from the road, also there's a strong suggestion to destroy any VM Tunnel systems found.
They are tough, as I recall the better US Engineer platoons have an assault value of 12. VM units are really good in assaulting their enemies, and while the regular VM Sappers have a more down to earth "8" as Assault value, these indeed pack a lot of combat power in them.
I hope this answered your questions.

Thank you for your reply! I was just hoping they wouln't be so resilient
I'll give it another go, as I have lost previous three attempts by a short margin.

It is a fun and well balanced scenarios, I am not sure I scored any Major Wins with this one, maybe just barely after a few tries iirc. Minor Wins should be available, do remember to destroy any Tunnel systems you find with your Engineers for added points!

Thankfully I managed to do that at my next attampt, but it was a close call, which you can tell by points.
Didn't find any tunnels but maybe I was looking wrong?

EDIT: I'm glad it wasn't just hard for me, judging by your own experience

Now that is a close major victory!

Congratulations on your Major! There's a few Tunnels there, next to roads, scattered around the map, close to road networks. You also managed to keep your own casualties to minimum, that helps too!

Thanks, it was quite a challange and took me around 8 hours to finally win over.
I think this particular scenario would benefit from having one of your youtube videos. Since the terrain is demanding and movement slows to a crawl and VC units are sparse but experienced.
