Field airborne using large transport aircraft?

I designed and built a bunch of large transports and plan to take over unoccupied peninsulas that are about 20 hexs away. Because in my imagination I can airdrop troops and supplies for combat, just like MTH.
But sadly after checking the manual I realized that SE requires an airfield for these transports, like wtf why is field airborne only available in helicopters/VTOL? Even in reality airdrop are actually used, let alone in a high tech setting like SE. Why is it that even transporter loaded infantry can only be unloaded at airbase?

By the way I hated the aliens floating in the sea in the DLC so much and the rise in business profile caused by the MTH events that I disabled it. If the DLC doesn't have separate naval units I won't play it again because it's pure hassle

Theoretically it is possible to build expeditionary airfields after only airdropping some personnel and equipment.

I don't know why SE even needs to do airport class restrictions on these large planes. It makes large transports seem completely useless.

I have now created a new VTOL transport model, but the makeshift zone created after airborne doesn't allow me to colonize it, even if I have enough logistic points, or even to send replacements, why?

SE's implementation of the airborne aspect is extremely unrealistic. I can't think of any reason to put so many restrictions on air bridges, I don't think it's a code issue, after all, why would the MTH transportation contract do it?
