Fire spreads...from 0?

I had a "fire spreads" message on my flagship, interestingly in the absence of any hit by an enemy ship. Is this careless smokers? Somebody dropped a shell somewhere?

What class of ship is your flagship? Were there any enemies in sight when you noticed this? What year is this game on?

You can look at the save game file but if I remember correctly, it was a CA and the year was 1918 or so.

No enemies nearby that could've hit it with a shell and start a lucky fire?

Funny, I tried opening the save file I sent you and it wouldn't open to the battle. I hope I didn't send you the wrong save game file. It has an autosave file with the correct time stamp, but it opened to the strategic turn.
Anyway, as I remember, I looked at the log for the ship and it hadn't been hit recently.

Do you happen to have another one that opens to the battle or perhaps a screenshot?

Unfortunately not. Sorry, I think I must have messed up the save game files somehow. I only keep one previous save file.
It would be handy if there was a "debug mode" feature or something where you could tell the game to keep all previous save game files in some repository. This is a common feature in other games. I manually change the name of the 7z file to "game1.7z.old" before making a new save game file but that only keeps the immediately preceding one.

Here's a similar example: the Junyo was hit by a torpedo almost two hours ago, was continuing operations, no hit or anyone anywhere nearby, and suddenly, avgas explosion and fire level 3.
Careless smokers?

In the end, it killed her, damage control training notwithstanding. I hope you can assure me this is WAD.

This example is WAD, which simulates events such as what happened to the IJN TaihÅ (and other carriers) during WW2.
Your first save is not in a battle and has progressed to Nov 1921 past the 1918 battle date mentioned...unfortunately we can't determine any odd behavior (or not) from that save. If you see this again please let us know, and a fresh save would very much help.

Sorry about sending the wrong save. Here's another example. If you look at CV Kaga's log, it was hit at 1:41 by a bomb that said it started a fire, but no fire was shown on the ship. At 1:47 it reported fire spread (from nothing) and immediately reduced by damage control, still showed no level of fire. At 1:55 it once again reported a fire spread (from zero) and once again was reduced by damage control to zero.

Is it WAD that this ship will risk bursting spontaneously into flame again throughout the scenario?

Seems like there was an issue here. Should be fixed in the next update.
