How do you blockade a port when there is only 1 adjacent tile to the port?

All,

Here is an example. I already have a ship at 1 but do I need one at 2 and or 3?

Basically, it can't be blockaded. We've discussed this particular anomaly due to geography in the game system's design in the past but as far as I know nothing has been changed in the patches issued since. Seems like it would be easier to blockade such a limited access port, but without two naval units adjacent you just can't. Like Leningrad in SC: World at War and a few other cul-de-sac ports (like Narvik) it's intrinsically "blockade-proof".

What about Danzig in the pic I posted, can you blockade it?

You can and you can't, as there are two types of blockade:

1 ship present - this blockade prevents the port from acting as a supply source to land units.
2 ships present - the above, plus the strength of the port reduces by 1 every turn.

Yes, you should be able to do a "port reduction" blockade on Danzig as you can get two naval units adjacent to besiege the resource number. Land hex-sides aren't an issue, just land hexes.
