I should know better - fuel in 1945 help

Have I been silly about not realising you can repair the bombing damage? We are now in Jan 45 PBEM I am Axis.

Is this why my key units have almost no MPs? All my synthetic fuel has been bombed out but not really anything else.

Does attaching AA to towns make any difference?

How many Const units should I be rushing in? Does more than one help?

Is it too late? these units have been sitting around, but fuel is getting worse, not better...

afaik once you lose Romania it is basically "whatever", as it is before but the other way around. :D

You can click the 71 and the force repair makes it like 50% or so (IIRC) of damage repaired each turn instead of the usual ~3% or so.

late in the game the civil fuel consumption and factory upkeep is killing you if you had not built up a pool before.
in realword the germans cut almost all fuel issues to civilians in order to keep the army somewhat running
try to get the large synth fuel factories repaired, you may not need to repair fuel facs as there should be sufficient excess capacity
to conserve fuel you may need to get rid of high-fuel-use aircraft like He 177 (change to He 111/Ju 88 if bomber units still required)

Denniss,

Thanks for the reply

So, just close the factories when I have enough. Or just do not fly them... I need to look into this, as I did not know. I thought all the production in this game was fixed.

My big mistake was not fixing the factories - live and learn. If I put the maximum effort into fixing it, should that be ok?? Or do you think it needs to be modded?

What about anything else?

It would be an interesting general post on how to conserve fuel in a long campaign.
