How to transport aircraft ?

Just started with the game .....
How can I get my US maritime bombers across the pacific to far away lands ?
Don't see that I have an option to transport them when their in a West coast port .....

You don't sea-transport air units. You use the operate function which burns up some MPPs. Then they can move to any green-shaded hex overseas at the expense of all their action points for that turn.

Is this true for fighter units ? They don't have any range to speak of .....
Just how far can air units operate ? West coast to Hawaii ? Hawaii to ?

They work the same.
Just how far can air units operate ? West coast to Hawaii ? Hawaii to ?
From the US West Coast as far afield as Australia, New Guinea or the Aleutians. Even India. Anywhere you see a green-shaded hex on the map after clicking the operate icon. You also have the option to cancel a pending operation after viewing the possible locations for overseas deployment by clicking on the circle with a diagonal bar through it. This generous deployment ability doesn't apply to land units though. They can only operate on connected land masses for the most part.

Please see page 22 of the 1941 Day of Infamy Strategy Guide for an explanation of the Airfields in this campaign, essentially they are superior bases for positioning your air units on certain islands.
