Howdy all

Picked up CMO this weekend. Long time WitP:AE player, but new to post WWII naval studies. Ill admit, I know very little about the USN, or any one else's for that matter, post 1945. CMO is looking great already, just looking for some reference books that I can thumb threw when I'm not in the database of CMO.

What are some good naval/aircraft reference books for 1945 to current? A quick search brought up the many versions of the Naval Institute Guide to Ships and Aircraft of the USN. Is that a good start?

Thanks in advance!

Chad

I would check out Navypedia. Both the website and the reference books on Amazon.

The CIA reading room has a lot of interesting content, it's just not well organized.

Also, I have a small library of Jane's, balance of military power, and other late cold war era books for reference/research on OOBs. A lot of that information is sadly becoming much harder to find online compared to 10-15 years ago.

Free resources are a little more difficult to find. But if you are willing to pay, there is probably more out there on cold war navies/air forces than ever before.

"Fleet Tactics" by CAPT Wayne Hughes is the best one volume work. You can check out some of the AARs. I've tried to write several for to educate on basic modern tactics. They are here: https://www.grogheads.com/forums/index. ... ic=25950.0 There are some other good AARs here: https://www.matrixgames.com/forums/view ... hp?f=10232 .
