New H2H fe scenario STOCKHEIM Clash

Post by RockinHarry »

this one got lost in another thread, so here we go again:

___>>_STOCKHEIM CLASH_<<*
_____(Semihistorical battle)*
__________for H2H fr**
__South of Duren, Germany*
_US advance vs German delay*
_____February 25, 1945*
_________Turns: 30**

This scenario is designed to be played with all realism settings (incl. Command Control!) set to ON! Easy version is CC and Vehicle Breakdown set to off. Human plays US side vs German AI!*
*
Operation GRENADE, US 1st and 9th Armies attack across the Roer river is on its 2nd day. As part of the 8th US Infantry Division, your 1. Btl of 28th Regiment is to push out of the small bridgehead and take STOCKHEIM, a small town just to the south of DUREN. It is believed that STOCKHEIM is defended by various german troops including tanks and self propelled guns. Unfortunately US armor support arrival of 740th tank battalion is delayed due to the germans harassing the river crossings and thus delaying completion of bridge construction. Even jet propelled attack planes are used by the germans to strafe and bomb the bridgehead. US artillery support though is ample and air support will be available on call later in the morning. Good luck commander!

Designers Notes: Forests are mostly impassable for vehicles and there is lots of soft ground that requires you to use roads! There also is a swollen creek that normally would be impassable for vehicles. To get it working there is a layer of AT-Obstacles added. Same goes for the city row houses! The layer of AT-obstacles prevents vehicles from smashing into them. See more unusual terrain layers or graphics? Just ask!

I played it last night and couldn't pry myself away from it. The map is excellent, especially the terrain. I lost a vehicle or two to immobilization.
Great Work!!!

Outstanding scenario! and a very beautiful map ... I like the way the scenario unfolded in 'stages'. It was frustrating to have my tanks get stuck in mudholes, but as luck would have it, one mired vehicle was in a good position to repel a counterattack! While moving through the forest, you truly learn to dread the "snarl" of a Mg42 opening up on you ... I haven't tried the map pbem yet, but please keep these great scenarios coming!

thanks for feedback dudes! :) Then I assume you didn´t have trouble with impassable woods (for vehicles) and somewhat tougher stone buildings?

Did you also notice shorter engagement ranges of german infantry? They shouldn´t waste that much long range shots with rifles anymore, thus not revealing unit locations pematurely.
