In my last 2 games as Axis, Communist China joined the Allies earlier than expected. No Japanese forces were within 3 hexes of the Capital Yenan, but still, Mao got annoyed by Japanese advances in China... In this pic, we can see that the Japanese are still quite far from the activation hexes but the Communists were not happy and joined a few turns later... any thoughts?

Just a shot in the dark, since I don't where you are in terms of time elapsed in the game, but could this patch change have anything to do with it?

From January 1942 Communist China will now have a 25% chance per turn of swinging 1-5% per turn towards the Allies providing the USSR is fully mobilized.

you were not near Yenan, but you did go within 2 hexes of Kweichow in the south, which pissed off Commies & also the USA. The USA mobilization afaik is only once, but the communist one can fire happen every turn that you are in range, so I think that's what happened.

Japan had a population of 70,000,000 during WW2
Over 750,000 Rising Sun Army went into China.

General Tso might get concerned.
Wuhan Labs, Peking, Duck Soup City, who cares.
The wasn't a J6 smart-phone selfie tour.

Fix Bayonets, you Commies.

it's April 1941.

China is dying. 2 strat bombers are killing supply and MPPs. 2 artillery batteries are chipping away at any forts and mountain entrenchments. Armies are massacring civilians and soldiers alike. Kunming has just been taken. Chungking is next in line. Yenan under threat. Chinese army down to 28 units. Japan at 47. lvl 2 inf weapons for Japan. lvl 1 for China, but no MPP to upgrade most units. China's losses at 8k MPP, Japan at 4k. Bad weather always on my turns. Good weather always on his. I think you are familiar with the pattern? Japan did not have 1 turn of bad weather in China from march 1940 until February 1941 XD Then 1 turn of frost in March, and we are back in good weather territory.

North Africa has been firmly in British hands for a while now. The Italians routed, lost 2 corps, 2 armies and 2 HQs. Malta is lost though. East Africa is falling currently.

France fell in May. Vichy established. BEF lost 1 corps in France.

Italian navy entirely in tact due to covering by entire luftwaffe and both maritime bombers. German navy in shambles. 3 subs lost, 4 surface ships lost (2BC, 2HC). UK navy heavily battered as well, many ships damaged. 1 HC lost. UK MPP lost is higher than German MPP lost.

Yugoslavian revolt has just been crushed. Lithuania invaded after Russia declined annexation. USSR at 70% mobilization. USA at 54% despite Japan making great advances in China. Germany still at lvl 1 inf weapons because of prioritizing fighters first it seems. Tanks at lvl 2. Russia is slow as well, only just started lvl 2 inf weapons :(

Greece, Belgium, Luxembourg, Norway are occupied. Finland at 1% allied.

Allies on the back-foot.
