always wondered

what was the deal here?

what do you need to accomplish it? do you do it spring 41? what are the pluses(Gibraltar and PPs i'd guess)?

what are the negatives?(lots of ports i'd guess?)

what other questions should be asked?

But why? Why invade Spain, how does it bring you closer to victory?

i guess i'm asking that

some players do it

as i said, you take Gibraltar, that would go some way toward securing the Med i guess? make italy a bit more secure?

not sure what you'd get in terms of PP, and if it adds up over the final three years of the conflict

The only correct way to do it is to invade the UK and get Spain on your side.

The only time I invade Spain is if I am doing a 1942 Russia...

The main reason? Take Gibraltar so that the UK can't really do much in Africa. Not that Africa matters...but it does slow down the US in that regard. IF you have the Suez you have shut down the Med 100% to the Allies.

Also a few more VPs...if you are playing the game in that regard. I play to see how long it takes to either wipe out Germany or take over Russia enough that the Allies really can't make an effort.

Is it worth it? I doubt it now...but early on you can take Spain and Portugal and still hammer Russia pretty good.
I think now Russia would end up with far to many armies for you to take advantage of them.

But it has been a LONG while since I did it...
