When I go to play Eagle Day I get unreadable text boxes as per the attached jpg. Any ideas for a fix?

I'm also having this exact same problem.
For me it occurs when I minimize the game - for example when im trying to check something in the manual or read the forum for advice.
The only way I can get rid of it is to completely restart the game. Which is a bummer if your halfway through planning your day as you cant read the text to save the game..

Yes I tried using the Direct draw software option - but when I use alt-Tab I get only a black screen when reopening the game window.

I need some more info. Is this happening with windowed mode toggled on or off? Or is it toggled off with DXWnd?

What happens when you push the "Windows" key on your keyboard instead of Alt-Tab?

Have you tried setting compatibility mode to different settings in the shortcut?

I will try windowed mode the next opportunity I get. (and report back)
Windows key generated the same issue (for me)
Not tried compatibility settings - that's straying into unfamiliar tech territory for me..

Whilst it is a nuisance its not a deal breaker for me, so more if a nice to fix than a need to fix - although I appreciate I have somewhat hijacked Peter's thread..
I'm hoping that it occurs when he alt-tabs or windows and therefore can hopefully avoid doing it..- If not I'm sure he will say.
