Let's say I have Hoi syndrome and want to guide an individual nation from the Allied or Axis factions. You could do this with a limited ability in SC:WW1, what about this game?

This. The ability to play as a single nation in either single-player or multiplayer is a must.

I totally agree. Since I've started to play the original 10 years ago I've always wanted to play as a minor individual nation that I could lead through the war. Commander The Great War made progress in that sens, letting you manage productions or research at national level, but nothing like I hoped.

Sadly, looking at the footage that we have for now, It seems that they choose to keep the old two faction formula...

At this scale and scope, why would anyone want to play a minor? I can understand wanting to play an individual major nation, but even then at this scale a two-sided Axis vs Allies game is fine.

From the reveal:
Fury Software's efforts to enhance the [original] game while maintaining its core appeal ensure that this remake will be a fresh and exciting experience for anyone looking to relive the grand strategies of World War II.
This is fine. I look forward to what Hubert Cater can do for CEAW by applying some of his Strategic Command experience, particularly some AI and event scripting to improve the original game without changing it too much.

I see your point, it's true that most people wouldn't care, but for some reason I'm truly enthusiast at the idea of playing a minor nation. Since I'm 10 I've always liked to challenge me by trying to save Belgium, Denmark or Romania from defeat and using them to capture all opposing faction capitals. It would be awesome I think to lead your own little country through the war, calculating each step carefully, managing your alliance system like in HOI4 to leverage more powerful allies and finally taking over the world with Hungary or Ireland ! It's a cool challenge imo.

I see. I congratulate you for taking an interest in military wargaming. It should lead you to reading more military history and a desire to be challenged by more realistic and historically accurate simulations, and to do better than the historical outcomes. That's a cooler challenge for most wargamers. It's good to see a new generation of wargamers in our niche hobby. Game On!

Ok, did you have any suggestions ? I've search for cool wargames or militatry strategy games for long, but outside of a few exceptions like The Troop, I never found a really good one. There are always to short and easy or too long and complicated. Thank you.

Since we're on the topic of CEAW, there are similar games available. Strategic Command WWII War in Europe and WarPlan are both good grand strategy European Theater of Operations wargames here at Matrix Games. They both have a division-level scale. I have an Advanced Third Reich mod for Strategic Command at https://www.matrixgames.com/forums/view ... 3&t=406679 based on the old Avalon Hill boardgame which has a corps-level scale and is not as complicated. You can also play the old Third Reich PC game for free online at https://playold.games/play-game/third-reich/ but the AI computer opponent has weaknesses, not unlike the old CEAW which hopefully will be improved and enhanced with CEAW 2.0. I got started on Third Reich back in the 1970s and it still holds a special place in my wargaming heart. Try one of those.

Why not have the ability to play as ONLY Germany or ONLY Italy? I personally don't care about playing as, say, Romania, but sometimes I really didn't like having to play as the entire alliance, either as the Axis or Allies. It can speed up the game, but also act as a balance to give the AI a better chance.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE put the ability to play at least these individual nations: Germany, Italy, Britain, USSR and USA.

That's a fair point. I would not begrudge players from playing individual major nations. The AI would likely be doing its own thing with your Allies which may or may not help you and your strategy, and that may very well give the enemy AI a better chance. I just don't see the point of playing minor nations at this scale, and certainly no need to HOI-ify an otherwise decent wargame.

Even just the majors, (UK or Commonwealth, USA, France, Italy, Germany, and the USSR) would work fine for the purposes of individual nation play.

I coded an unofficial mod to CEaW-GS which allowed for a 3 sided game, Western Allies, Axis and Soviets. I actually played a full PBEM as the Axis vs two experienced players who played the Western Allies and the Soviets. That alpha never went anywhere after that.

In would be nice if this new and better version had the option for three players.
