Ok this time I'm not posting something where I am wrong.

I thought I saw this posted but can't find it...

If I pick "Center" starting location with a new galaxy, the game always puts me on the Edge. My in-expert guess says that selection is broken because it defaults to Random every time and (I think) is not picking up my input. I tried this 5 times in a row and got the same result.

I dont think I have ever had a centre start in any galaxy type despite always picking centre.

The game needs to place the player first then the cpu empires.

I started a few new game with Classic galaxy shape / deep core start and it did the right thing each time.

One of the setup variables is breaking 'player start in centre' coding.

Did ten test starts on random map types and am close to the edge of map on all ten.

I normally have 20 opponents in biggest 2000 system maps with other empires having the biggest starting empire size and have extreme in hostile empire closeness to me. Checked in the editor and there are plenty of spaces in the centre to place player who has a single planet start.

Tested with second biggest other empire starts and even more space for the game to fail to put me in the centre...

This is a known issue that we're investigating.

Works now better but instead now get the position of one another empire "near" in setup get ignored. I only added two empires to "near" as I did in so many games before and it worked all the time till shakturi release. Since shakturi release I did not add empires by myself in setup till now.

This was fixed for me before the tactics update broke it again.

Do you happen to have a save of this game where you started, not where you expected? It's possible that the fix we put in place may not have handled all cases, and we'd like to see if there's a pattern that makes the game not obey your location start settings.

What were your exact game settings?

After I started the game four times again I got the expected position (all same settings, nothing changed):

Not fixed yet, when will come next beta patch? There were a long time no patches anymore.

We're hoping to start public betas up again soon.
