After my spy stole the Fusion Ignition tech from the Quamenos, I wanted to upgrade the Basic Bomber design with the Boskara’s Plasma Blaster (also stolen by one of my spies). I couldn’t do it before having the Novacore reactor, due to insufficient energy from the Fission Reactor.

So I clicked on the “Upgrade” button in the “Designs” window, and I got this:


Even though the Novacore reactor appears in the available components list, the upgrade didn’t add it to the design.

EDIT: After having continued my game a little, it looks as though the same thing happens with all designs, not only with Bombers.

Maybe you could change topic title to your edit. I only wanted to response "occurs at all designs".

You're right. I changed it, but I used "most" instead of "all", because, in my current game at least, the novacore was added to the small spaceport (v2) design.

This is a known issue with the auto-designer that we're investigating.

Just hit this, super annoying. Looked through game files and didn't find an obvious solution.

Worth noting, creating a brand new design via "Add New" -> "Auto-generate" uses the Novacore Reactor. Then upgrading that design straight away replaces it with Fission Reactor v2. So some discrepancy between creating and upgrading designs.

Thought I'd rush quantum reactors so I can finally use the upgrade button again. Not in my random research tree and nobody has it available for stealing. Going to have to luck into salvaging it lmao.

Upgrading is going to be "fun" for the next few days.
