Does anyone else have a problem with this? If I want to get down in the weeds in a firefight, the sounds of gunfire are loud enough to annoy my wife in the next room so, please, does anyone have a workaround?

The issue is that Shift+S is used for fast WASD camera movement. Perhaps the sound needs a new hotkey.

Please. The volume gets out of control close-in and the PC’s volume controls seem ineffective within the game.

Have you tried the volume controls in the game options? That's what I use.

I will try that, thank you. I am AFK; do the sound options have a dedicated “battle sounds” tab?

The locked/player unit volumes have dedicated sliders, because they're usually the loudest. However, if a shell lands next to your locked unit it's going to be pretty loud.

The music volume has its own slider.

Many thanks for your advice on this. I will need to find a way to get the loudness of the close-up battle sounds under control or I will only be able to play using a headset and that is not my preference.
