Did a test scenario to figure this out, found no solution.

Once dismounted, I find it impossible to get the infantry of the four Bradleys mount their vehicles again. I have them in the same square as their vehicles, manually order them there, I tried giving command to the infantry formation, to individual infantry squad, to Bradley formation, to individual Bradley vehicle, I tried load, I tried rejoin, I waited two minutes, I made sure no enemy was around, no LOS to enemy, no incoming fire. Once dismounted, the infantry is gone, forever, does not board their taxis again, never. The manual has almost nothing to say on it, just that "split" is used to have dismounted infantry and vehicles as two different formations.

What worked for me was left click and drag a box around both units and click load in the orders menu on the bottom of the screen. I've had them load up several times in one scenario.

Same problem. Once infantry are split as separate formation, they can't be loaded again, even though I see they're still linked to their mounts.

tried as you said, but it does not work. And I tried all combinations possible:
infantry close to its vehicle:
tried with yellow line visible, and tried without;
tried giving loading order instantly to both as you described;
tried reattach command only;
tried giving reattach command and then load command.

We do not talk about too big distance between infantry and mount, indicated by a red line.

I think its broken.

My mistake, my troops were not separated when I reloaded them. I haven't tried to reload once they've been separated yet, will give it a go next scenario.

Also they are tied to their original transport it seems, so can't load up on any other transport, according to the manual. That was the same as AB1 I believe.

Its my understanding that a line connects the squad with the transport it belongs to. If the line is yellow, I assume the troops should be in range to board, if its red, they are too far away and must be moved closer.

I think they should be and wish they would be able to be manually attached to a different transport, if the situation demands it.

As since troops are attached to their transport, it should not matter which of the two gets the load command, the result should be the same: loading. I think these two points should be added/changed.

I could imagining this: giving the load command to the troops loads them on their transport if it is in reach, but giving the load command to the transport will make it load the closest infatry unit nearby.

Figured it out. You have to select both parts, then hit formation and click join, once you only see 1 formation icon, you can order them to load again, but only to their original transport. Was driving me a bit crazy because at first I was trying with just one unit. Seems you can't separate with one unit as the split command is under formation. Bummer, I can see situations where you would want to separate single units from their transport to go ahead on foot.

After FORMATION->SPLIT you have to select FORMATION->JOIN before the dismounts can be loaded again.

I think that was the issue here? It doesn't matter which flag is selected when doing JOIN.

I tried just "load", and I tried "join" and then "load". Does not matter, no difference. They don't load up again.

Ha, I found it.

I mixed up "join" in the formation menu, and "re-attach" in the unit menu. I did not use the join command, but the reattach command, and the difference and that there are two commans, escaped my attention because when translating it in my German mind I fail to see a big differen in the meaning of both terms. My mind messed up both commands for one and the same meaning.

P.S. Thats a tricky trap, and apparently I am not the only one falling into it. Deserves a note in the manual, I think.

We have tried to come up with better names for SPLIT/JOIN. Suggestions are welcome.

Isn't that the same as mount/dismount? The feature is not only about unloading units.
