I've had this issue for a while. It came, went away, and came back again. Every time I try to load a save game, I get "Data at the root level is invalid: Line 1, position 1". it makes the game unplayable, unless I leave it open all the time, which means days at a time. It takes a lot of work to set up loadouts, missions, etc, and then I can't use them. Same applies for autosaves, but if you just save the game without changing the name, it seems to work. But that means no going back.

You need to use the last beta to avoid it happening again. However it will not fix your already saved games.

Are you running build 1500 or 1487? 1500 fixes this bug caused by unit trails - turning them off also solves the issue on new saves in 1487.

I did have 1487, so i selected the open beta and it updated me o 1463! Thanks for the link.
Thanks also for the tip on the unit trails. I do have them on, so I'll turn them off.

I've downloaded and unzipped it alright, but it won't run because I have the steam version. I'll just have to wait for the official release, I suppose.
