The (hypothetical) Iran war

What if somehow, Iran convinced Oman to "sell" the Musandam peninsula, giving the Ayatollah and his regime full control of the Strait of Hormuz from top to bottom? What if Iran held the world hostage by controlling the choke point that has over 20% of the world's oil because if it, and began a full speed "confiscation" of all shipping in and out of the Persian Gulf? This includes NATO and US shipping. Finally they began to attack warships and seizing western civilians? Would we go to war? And when? During this current US administration or the prior/next one?
By doing so and if the Iranians did this in quick fashion, that would block the entire US Fifth Fleet at Bahrain and any other NATO shipping into the killzone that is the Persian Gulf. With Russian support material support and political backing, Iran would hold the world by the balls...or at least one. Saudi Arabia would be a bit upset, but would they do anything about it? Qatar, Bahrain, the UAE and now Oman (feeling betrayed) is furious. Iraq is messed up to do anything about it, as is Afghanistan and Pakistan.
That's my next campaign project.

you premise needs a bit more work to be a plausible future. Give it some more thought and research first. When you can pitch the scenario without beginning with "what if somehow", it is refined enough to start building as a scenario.

I can tweak that with ease.
Iran just went crazy and demanded the peninsula from Oman. The Sultanate told the Ayatollah to go kiss a dead camel's rump, thinking there was no way Iran would make a show of force out of this. Well, Iran did. They took the peninsula in a quick covert operation.
OR...Iran used dirty tactics to convince the locals to become a separate nation (Donetsk, Luhansk anyone?), suddenly annexed by Iran. The Arab League went bonkers. It's on.

No. There was more to it than that. Therefore, you must also add "more to it than that" to your premise.
Otherwise, I am going to capture Italy in a "quick covert operation" and threaten most of NATO in my next scenario...

As Bob Ross would say, "It's your world, you can what you want with it." If you want to make a scenario where this happens, do it, it doesn't have to make sense to anyone but you. I've always said I make scenarios for me and what I want to play, if others enjoy it great, but that's secondary to me.
If you need help refining the idea, can always take your premise and drop it into ChatGPT and ask it for suggestions that may be more "accurate", if accuracy is what you're going for. But if you want F-24 Hellcat IIs vs their older Iranian siblings, that's just as good.
