I have both Advanced Tactic Gold and Shadow Empire. I have not played Advanced Tactic Gold. Does Shadow Empire encompass the same features only with more immersion/4x qualities of Advanced Tactic Gold....or is would there be a value to playing Advanced Tactic Gold in addition to Shadow Empire? I have read that Shadow Empire is a better version of Advanced Tactic Gold, somewhat of the next, more advanced version of Advanced Tactic Gold (if this is the case, I won't bother with Advanced Tactic Gold).

Advanced tactics Gold is for if you want to play WW2 battles. Shadow Empires has more technical sci-fi weapons though depending on tech speed and planet conditions, you could fight for a while with 1940's to 1980's techs.

It seems to me, but it's been a long time, that the combat and logistics system is the same as SE. In addition, it has incorporated some nice improvements in its latest version, although I haven't had time to discover them yet.

It's like a TV series, you understand better if you've seen season 1!
I played it a lot and with great pleasure. This is what introduced me to SE.

You don't lose anything by playing it for a few hours to whet your appetite before starting the main course with good cutlery. These few hours among the countless ones you'll spend on SE, if you like it, will not be wasted.

ATG is Not only ww2, although it comes billed as that. I have made an Ancients Scenario, a Napoleonic one, and I know of at least 6 modern ones (that is after ww2) that have been made with it. Modding ATG is harder, but you can do a lot more, than in SE.
