I can't get Korsun Pocket to work on my system.

I have a two-week old Alienware Intel 3.0 ghz processor
1 gig RAM
ATI Radeon 9800 Pro 128MB
Soundblaster Audigy 2

All my drivers and DirectX's are up to date.
I run ZoneAlarm and Weatherbug.
I have two disc drives, a DVD drive and a CD/RW drive.
I also have two hard drives.

When I try to launch Korsun Pocket, either from the menu or the actual game folder, the three intro cinematics play just fine but then the screen goes black and hangs there.

My first installation went on the D: drive. When that didn't work, I thought it might help to install it on C: with the default path.

I've repeatedly attempting uninstalling and reinstalling the game, making sure to delete the registry folders MATRIX and KORSUN. I also closed down ZoneAlarm and Weatherbug for the installation.

After each uninstall, I've gone to delete the Korsun Pocket folder and been denied access to that ttf font file. I managed to delete the file by renaming the folder, shutting down, then rebooting and trying again.

I'm dying to play CGW's Best Hex-based War Game Ever Made!!!

Any help would be appreciated!

I have the exact same problem. I have a 3.2GHz P4, 2GB RAM, GeForce 5900 Ultra (256MB), Audigy 2 running WinXP Pro, DirectX 9.0b. I have 44.03 (WHDM) NVidia Drivers. The install went fine (both times - I uninstalled and reinstalled just to be sure) and the game launches fine into the splash screen cinematics, but as soon as they end or I escape out I get a black screen. If I alt-tab I can see that the program is running but it isn't doing much (no CPU utilization).

I suggest you check how your soundcards and CD/RWs are doing. My specs are almost the same as yours but I have no trouble whatsoever, except that the CD/RW is extremely slow to spin up in game....

A WAG on my part. :) What I wanted to say is that the graphics cards and drivers should not be the problem.

Not sure what to check - I have 2 DVD-RW combo drives (different manufacturers and specs) and tried to run from both with no success. I currently play Splinter Cell (at 1600x1200x32 with full graphics - what a gorgeous game!), Starwars Galaxies, NWN, UT2k3, BF1942/RtR, and DAoC on the same machine and none have any problems. I did see in another thread that the copy protection may be a problem and I suspect that this may be related. As soon as the cinematics completes I see the CD drive is accessed but the game never seems to launch, which would make sense if the copy protection was a problem.

And yes (before anyone assumes guilt), my copy is purchased, licensed, and legal.

I had the same problem.

I told ZoneAlarm to always allow KP access to the trusted zone and always block access to the internet zone.

Now the game starts and runs fine.
