This looks like WAD....? I think the frigate must have an updated sonar track on the submarine in order to fire the ASW mortar at it. Looking at the screenshot I see the sub was last detected 6 seconds ago.

" I think the frigate must have an updated sonar track on the submarine in order to fire the ASW mortar at it."

The fregate has turned over the sub a while while tracking it directly above, like if she was positionning to drop grenades. So the sub position was updated. After a moment the sub managed to launch a torpedo...

I reloaded a save and sent a ASW plane & helo to do the job the fregate was unable to.

I Think there's a problem between the weapon platform and the sensors of the fregate. Badly she had no other ASW weapon, so she was helpless and useless...

Thanks for the report, it looks like the frigate is lacking a FC link between the attack sonar it has and the weapon itself.

I've run into this issue with other scenarios and different ships, all cases where ASW Mortars are unable to engage, despite being within range and having about as clear of a position of the target sub as you can get.

It sounds to me like there is an issue (either DB or engine), where the virtual Sonar crew are not speaking/connecting to the virtual ASW mortar crew/equipment.

This issue remains in Build 1567.6

See the attached Save from Mark Gellis's most recent scenario:

Go to the frigate HMS Juno. This vessel has as clear as you can get contact on a Soviet submarine, but it's ASW Mortars cannot engage due to the same error that is the title of this thread.

Not a DB issue as far as I can tell, all the Rothesays have a Mk10 mortar and Type 170/170B director which is properly linked.

Yes, I tested that save file with the newest beta and the issue remained.

HMS Juno clearly has an operational ASW Mortar Fire Control sonar active, emitting, and undamaged.

There's clearly an issue affecting the link between ASW Mortars and Active Sonar.

This has been fixed for the next update.

SWEET! Can't wait to try it out.

I'd been hesitant to play some of the older-era scenarios for this reason, as some ships have ASW Mortars as their only ASW weapons, and if they are out of action, then well, that ship is doomed.
