I'm being prompted for a password

"Sorry - you are not logged in. Please log in and try again."

I've tried various passwords with no success.

If that happens for no apparent reason then it could be a sign of the server being down, but if it continues for a long period I would suggest contacting support@matrixgames.com with details of the game you're playing, and where in the world you are, so they can advise accordingly.
