Access violation error in beta .76 when generating a tactical battle.

Narrative: I started a new game on beta .76 as Russia. I am fighting my first war this campaign, against Italy. It appears that any time the game tries to generate a battle that a) requires a tactical map, and b) is not a raider interception battle, it results in a specific access violation error (the one pictured above). I was able to duplicate the error repeatedly whenever a battle was generated that was not a raider interception. Raider interceptions worked fine, and battle pop ups that didn't result in a tactical battle (e.g., unable to challenge enemy in area or auto raider intercepts) were fine.

Background: Running on Windows 11 Home 24H2. Running through Steam, cloud saves on but this save is local as well and was started on this computer and only played on this computer. Single monitor, nothing unusual in terms of other apps running.

Save game zipfile should be attached.

Thanks for the report. Have you tried any of the other nations? Have you tried verifying Steam files?

I started a new game as Italy today. Eventually got into war with Austria Hungary. Generated a light force action in the Mediterranean just fine.

Before I started the Italy game today, I repeated the error in the Russia save game. When I tried verifying the Steam files after closing the game, it reported 2 files failed to validate and will be reacquired.

However, after restarting and playing the new game and the successful battle generation as Italy I tried Steam verifying again, and it also reported 2 files failed to validate and will be reacquired. Therefore difficult to make heads or tails of that.

Strange.

Just to confirm, it seems like verifying files has fixed your issue? Have you checked if your anti-virus may be interfering with your game at all?

Negative as far as the Russian save. Verifying and then playing I still get the same error. It's possible verifying prevented an error that occurred earlier in the Russia campaign recurring in the Italy campaign but completely speculative on my part.

I'll have to try another Russian game to see if it's a Russia specific problem.

Most likely negative on the anti virus. Just Windows 11 built-in AV.
