Ship movement

Hi all,

I just started playing yesterday, and have a question. Are naval units moved one by one, and since units do not stack in hexes, do I need to have my carriers surrounded by destroyers?

In Day of Infamy you have Zone of Control for both land and naval units. You can have full, partial, or no ZoC, going out 1 hex in each direction. A unit with full ZoC means it will take extra movement points to move next to that unit (land is +1, naval is +6). Partial means it needs two units to complete a full ZoC, but it will only exert to the hexes that overlap. No ZoC means they will never be able to exert control over a neighboring hex, even if there are two of them next to each other.

Destroyers, MTBs, and subs have partial ZoC, Carriers none, and all other ships have full ZoC (you can check this on any unit in the properties menu). Note: a unit must have at least 5 health to exert ZoC.

Unless you want a battleship running up to your carrier and attacking it, yes you should surround it with escorts.

Got it, thanks for answering!
