Can someone please explain why this airport is not able to accommodate any additional aircrafts but for the ones shown in the picture. I had a ferry with some more F/A 18F for the same destination but they refused to land nor did they accept to set the airport as their new base. See attached image

In short - Airport capacity is full.
Hornet is categorized as Large Aircraft (see DB viewer), and Airfield has four 2x Medium Tarmac facility which can host up to four Large aircraft. Note you cannot host any Large aircraft to Hanger (2x Small).

Thank you. Intuitively I always thought that F18s were "Medium" category.

Still: Based on this explanation it appears that there should be some room for one additional F18 (a forth one) . However, I have tried to ferry one more and it refused to land, and when I unassigned it from the ferry mission and order it to change its home base to that one, it refused to do so.

Why would you not share a save to begin with? Again, its a simple step to help people help you.

Here is a save. There is a 1 a/c ferry to Tacloban Airbase. Despite seemingly one free tarmac space for 2x Medium aircrafts, the base cannot accommodate the extra visitor

I built this a few years ago. Cannot say if it is still valid, but it may help

Your base was attacked on July 30 at 1:36 PM and sustained damage. A/C Tarmac Space 3 (2x Medium Aircraft) was 99.7% damaged, A/C Hangar 4 (2x Small Aircraft) and Airport Terminal 1 (Building) were destroyed by DF-21Cs.

You have four A/C Tarmac Spaces (2x Medium Aircraft) at your base, each of which can accommodate only one F-18 (Large Aircraft). Three are already occupied, and the fourth, No. 3, is 99.7% damaged, its capacity is therefore reduced and it cannot accommodate your F-18.

There are also two A/C Hangar 4s (2x Small Aircraft), but they are too small to accommodate your F18.

You are amazing! I never realized that it has been previously attacked (probably it was empty at the time and I was indifferent and running the sim at full acceleration...)

If I were you, I'd suddenly repair the damage from the mission editor to allow your F18 to land.
There's always room to park a plane.
