Just wanted to point this out here. Here's a chunk of the Fulda Gap in Armored Brigade 1: Here's the same in Armored Brigade 2: The removal of the elevation shading in Armored Brigade 2 is an enormous regression to reading the elevation map relative to Armored Brigade 1, and trying to figure out your lines of sight was already a huge pain point in the first game.

The 3D nature of the terrain doesn't help make it apparent because of how small the elevation shifts are relative to the area of play, and the fact that you do most play looking down at relatively steep angles doesn't help matters. Additional visual cues like the slope shading in AB1 are still incredibly necessary to make a map readable.

Another reason I will not be getting AB2

/But you have 3d now - what you need "Shading" for ? Seriously some people are never happy with anything

One thing you are not short of in AB2 is knowledge of elevations.

Are you planning to add contour lines to the maps? To me it would seem the simplest and best way to depict elevation.
