Oranienbaum Fortress: What is it good for?

Comrades!
While every part of the soil of the Motherland is sacred, I wonder what the point of defending the Oranienbaum Bridgehead is. It's massively fortified of course, but is there a real reason to hold it?
I think as long as you keep the Fort Region in Kronstadt, the Germans can't attack it or use the ferries into the rear of Leningrad
It seems like the only purpose is a platform to kind of raid the Germans rear (because Soviets CAN get there via the Kronstadt ferry), but a couple Regts outside will prevent that, and not sure what would be gained by that move anyway
If it's not to be defended, it's an easy call to just disband the fort unit and turn those 5000 guys into Riflemen
Thoughts?
