Republica DLC concerns

I saw the announcement of the DLC and I wondered about its focus. Currently, the leaders have tons of stats already, many more than comparable games, and it is really unclear to me how lots of them impact the game. Some of the stats also seem to have trivial impacts, and the interface doesn't help with managing or assessing any of this. So, when I saw, "More in depth Leaders with Social Standing Stats, Value Types & Society Types", I wasn't very excited. I just hope the interface gets some refinement around leader management to make it less tedious. Currently, I just do the absolute minimum with that aspect of the game.

Yeah, I was assuming Republica DLC was going to be about advanced foreign politics and diplomacy concerning itself with things like military alliances, trade partners and so forth. The sneak previews I've seen so far make it look more like it's about domestic politics. Nevertheless, I'm still looking forward to what it brings to the table.

Char. Stats make more sense, the more one plays the game. Republica it seems will be more focused on the management of characters.
If there will be more stratagems that actually take care of this aspect, then all is good :)

My concern is more about the government focus...
For now it seems like a great update for Democracy, but I'm a little worried on how other Politics will be.
Since Meritocracy and Autocracy are very different.
If those will get the same innovation in game mechanics as Democracy (at least from the small amount of info we have), then it could be amazing.

In a sense, domestic policy will be affecting foreign policies more often than what we have now. Right now, a highly skilled foreign director can brute force a most hated Theocracy regime to ally with you no matter what your profiles are. I imagine that if you're a fanatical autocrat, trying to ally yourself with a meritocratic communist will have significant relation loss with your political party.

Respecting everyone's expectations about the game, I don't like the politics part at all. I just want even moaar detailed logistics and production

Personally i hope the republica update adds a bit more spice to the empire management segment of the game overall. The game does feel a bit stale in that respect. For example, it is very easy to create a homogenous society with several 'aspect' combinations others are a bit harder but those are also out the way of my personality so to speak. I can certainly believe that in times of crisis people will combine to a certain general feeling of compliance but uhm yea well, you only need to look to one of the most documented examples we have in the world right now, USA, to understand that reality is more of mixed bag :-)

TLDR

I do already feel sometimes 'forced'to make decisions, political decisions, i don't like and i would like to see more of those

Yeah I'm not quite sure what we're in for. I think there's always a risk with internal politics systems in games that they end up being more annoying than they are fun, but Vic's a good designer so I'm optimistic.

I will say I love the fantasy of being able to hook up my government to a Syndic Computer. All hail Master Control.

Based on Vic's track record per game design; & especially his Shadow Empire gem...I have no worries about the game not getting better. If that is, even, possible; though I am still waiting for some type of naval enhancements/implementations per Oceania. :)
